Description

Metallic cartridge technology had been available for over a decade before Colt, bound by patents and unwilling to pay royalties to Smith & Wesson, was able to begin production of bored through revolver cylinders to use the no longer “new” ammunition. Their first effort, designed for government service trials in 1872, was adopted as the standard military service model, and the Model 1873 Single Action Army was born. Built in various calibers and configurations, the Model 1873 became enormously popular with ranchers, lawmen and outlaws alike, and is known today as “the gun that won the West”.

The Ranch Hand from Taylor’s & Co is built in Italy by Uberti and is a faithful modern day reproduction of the original 1873, only built with modern metallurgical processes and manufacturing technology. These pistols are very popular on the cowboy action shooting circuit, and are great for anyone who appreciated the nostalgia of the American Old West.
